Atlanta United defeated the New England Revolution 1-0 on Saturday afternoon to advance to the Eastern Conference semi-final. The Five Stripes will host the winner of the Philadelphia Union-New York Red Bulls match on Thursday evening in Atlanta.
This match wasn’t pretty for either team by any means, but Atlanta United and their recent championship pedigree prevailed over a New England side that seemed just happy to be in the playoffs. The Revs had a few chances to take the lead in the first half but Brad Guzan stepped up in a big way, recording four saves to preserve a clean sheet going into halftime.
