Atlanta United are still winless in MLS league play following a 2-0 loss in Ohio against the Columbus Crew. It was the Five Stripes’ first loss to Columbus despite being the sixth match between the two clubs.
Columbus struck early with a 2nd-minute goal from Crew winger Pedro Santos. Atlanta defenders were caught flatfooted when a cross made its way through the box to Santos, who collected the ball and shot for the easy, early goal.
Atlanta then fought back with a few solid chances but couldn’t find an equalizer. The match was stopped in the 31st minute for a weather delay following some lightning around the stadium.
