The Chicago Fire’s road woes continued on Saturday night as the Men in Red lost 2-0 away to Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Fire came into the contest with some momentum after picking up a point away to D.C. United midweek, but Chicago never really got going against the reigning MLS Cup champions.
It only took 12 minutes for Atlanta to take the lead. Pity Martinez slipped a ball in behind to Josef Martinez, and last season’s MLS MVP made no mistake with the finish, slamming a shot into the back of the net.
