Atlanta United had a big week in their first few days in Mercedez-Bens Stadium. It’s safe to say, however, that nobody had a better time breaking in the new facility than Venezuelan forward, Josef Martinez. The young attacker scored a hat-trick in both of Atlanta’s contests to go along with a goal last weekend in their debut in the state of the art facility. With his seven goal week, Martinez jumps into fourth in the MLS Golden Boot race only behind David Villa, Diego Valeri, and Nemanja Nikolic (who all have games this weekend).
Arguably the most impressive stat for Martinez compared to his competitors is that Josef has scored all of his goals in just 14 games.
