A look at the Houston Dynamo’s transformation in the 4-3-3

The impact of the formation paid off quickly in the Houston Dynamo’s home contest against the Columbus Crew on March 11. Starting the game, Crew GK Zack Steffan was content to leisurely pass the ball from his box. Then in the second minute Dynamo F Romell Quioto snatched a pass and shockingly worked it between Steffan’s legs for an early goal.

It made Quioto the Dynamo’s first MLS newcomer to score in his first two games with the club. Steffan switched tactics and started punting the ball out of his area after that.

The Dynamo formation has produced a 3-1-0 record, facing these formations: 4-2-3-1, 4-2-2-2 and 4-3-3 (defensive).
