It was undoubtedly a great summer for women’s soccer. Granted, American players got a rest after an impressive set of wins over Ireland and Canada. But fans got to enjoy star players from the rest of the world thanks to the women’s Euros, Copa America, and Africa Cup of Nations over the past month.
Of course, the time has come to get back to the club season, as the NWSL returns from its hiatus on Friday. Each team has played 13 games, with 13 left to play. That means the players who shone during the first half of the season have to prove they can maintain that level for the second half.
