Chicago Cubs pitcher Yu Darvish reportedly donated $10,000 to aid in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis research following the death of Gretchen Piscotty, the mother of Oakland Athletics right fielder Stephen Piscotty.
Satchel Price of the Chicago Sun-Times reported the news Monday, noting the donation went to the YouCaring page that Piscotty set up.
Piscotty used to play for the St. Louis Cardinals, and Darvish suggested on Twitter some things are bigger than baseball rivalries after a Cardinals fan praised him for his donation:
