It seemed as if the game would go on forever, as the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers kept battling each other into the early hours of Saturday morning.
Finally, Max Muncy put an end to the drama. He homered to left field in the bottom of the 18th inning, driving a pitch from Boston relief pitcher Nathan Eovaldi over the left field wall to end a 7-hour, 20-minute game. It was the longest game in World Series history, both in innings and time.
The opposite-field home run gave the Dodgers a 3-2 victory in Game 3, and allowed Los Angeles to narrow the World Series gap to 2-1.
