To support the efforts of ace Jose Fernandez, the Marlins looked to boost their rotation by trading for right-handers Andrew Cashner and Colin Rea from the San Diego Padres in a seven-player deal.
Along with Cashner and Rea, the Marlins received prospect Tayron Guerrero and cash in exchange for right-handers Jarred Cosart, Carter Capps and minor-leaguers Luis Castillo and Josh Naylor.
