Report: Rays, Blake Snell Agree to Five-Year, $50 Million Extension

The Tampa Bay Rays and ace Blake Snell have agreed to a five-year, $50 million extension, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The deal will cover the 2019 season, Snell's three arbitration years and his first year of free agency, per Passan.

Snell, 26, capped off an incredible 2018 campaign by winning the American League Cy Young Award and became only the second Ray in club history to take home the honor. David Price won the award in 2012. Snell led the league last year with 21 wins and ranked first in the AL in ERA (1.
