Report: Astros' Justin Verlander to Miss Rest of Season with Elbow Injury

Houston Astros star Justin Verlander is out for the season with an elbow injury, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle.

The loss leaves Houston without it's best starter and puts the reigning American League Cy Young-winner on the sidelines until at least 2021.

Verlander started the season-opener on Friday, striking out seven over six innings in an 8-2 win over the Seattle Mariners.

The Astros announced March 17 the two-time Cy Young winner underwent right groin surgery.

"Initially, the hope was that physical therapy would be the proper course of action," general manager James Click said.
