Phillies' Jake Arrieta out for Rest of Regular Season with Hamstring Injury

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jake Arrieta is out for the remainder of the regular season with a strained right hamstring, manager Joe Girardi told reporters Thursday.

It is possible he could return for the postseason should the Phillies qualify, however.

Now in his third year with the Phillies, Arrieta has been a disappointment in the past two seasons. The 2015 National League Cy Young winner posted a 4.26 ERA in 55 starts between 2018 and 2019.

Arrieta's 2019 season came to an end in August when he had surgery to remove a bone spur in his right elbow.
