Melvin Upton Jr. to Be Traded to Blue Jays: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction

Melvin Upton Jr.'s solid bounce-back season was enticing enough for the Toronto Blue Jays to reportedly acquire him from the San Diego Padres.

Citing sources, Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported Tuesday the Blue Jays are in line to acquire Upton in exchange for a "Class A prospect." Sportsnet's Shi Davidi added that San Diego "will pay down a very substantial portion of the outfielder’s salary."

According to Spotrac, Upton is earning $15.4 million this season and will make $16.4 million next year before his contract expires at the end of the 2017 season.
