Justin Maxwell walked, tripled, homered, drove in two runs, and scored three times in four plate appearances in a win versus the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Maxwell tripled and scored in the second inning, grounded into a fielder's choice and scored in the fourth, then slugged a two-run home run in the eighth inning off of Pedro Baez. Maxwell, who entered the game with just one extra-base hit in 22 plate appearances, has been used mostly as a pinch-hitter with the occasional start in right field against a left-handed starter. If he continues to hit well, he could force a platoon in left field with Norichika Aoki once Hunter Pence returns and reclaims his spot in right field.
