José Altuve is critical to the success of the Houston Astros, and now he won't be going anywhere for a long time.

Altuve and the Astros agreed to a five-year, $125 million contract extension on Tuesday, according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman. The franchise announced the news and posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he would be an "Astro for life."

The 33-year-old has spent his entire 13-year in Houston, winning two World Series titles, an American League MVP award, a Gold Glove and three batting titles to go along with eight All-Star selections and six Silver Slugger awards.
