Jesse Rogers of ESPNChicago.com reports that the Cubs will call up Kyle Schwarber on Wednesday to serve as their designated hitter during interleague play.
The Cubs are slated for back-to-back interleague series on the road from Wednesday to Sunday. Rogers says the plan is to send Schwarber to Triple-A Iowa after that, although it's certainly possible he plays his way into a longer stay. The 22-year-old boasts a ridiculous .320/.438/.579 batting line with 13 homers and 39 RBI at Double-A Tennessee this season.
It was a combination of the Phillies' feeble offense performing as advertised and Chen pitching effectively.
