Major League Baseball has issued a fine to the Arizona Diamondbacks and coach Ariel Prieto for his use of an Apple Watch during Wednesday's National League Wild Card Game against the Colorado Rockies at Chase Field in Phoenix.
On Friday (via NBC Sports' Craig Calcaterra), the league said it found no evidence Prieto used the watch to gain a competitive advantage, but it levied a fine for the violation of on-field rules.
"As a result, Mr. Prieto and the D-backs have each been fined an undisclosed amount," the statement said. "The amount of the fines will in turn be donated by the Office of the Commissioner to hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
