Anthony Rendon Placed on 10-Day DL by Nationals with Toe Injury

Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon was placed on the disabled list Sunday, retroactive to Thursday, with a toe contusion.

Rendon was one of the best players in baseball a year ago, finishing with the fifth-highest WAR (6.8) among position players in 2017, per FanGraphs.

The 27-year-old set career highs across the board, batting .301 with a .533 slugging percentage, hitting 25 home runs and driving in 100 runs. He ended upsixthin the National League MVP voting.

The Nationals' starting lineup remains loaded in 2018, with manager Dave Martinez able to call upon Bryce Harper, Daniel Murphy, Trea Turner, Ryan Zimmerman and a returning Adam Eaton.
