The 2019 MLB Trade Deadline is officially over, so it's time to decide the Winners and Losers! This year on track to be the most boring ever and then BOOM! The Houston Astros traded for pitcher Zack Greinke among several other deals that were announced after 4 p.m. ET! The Astros are the clear winners of the trade deadline but the other winners New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, and San Francisco Giants. The notable losers of the deadline are the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers and the biggest losers the New York Yankees.
The Astros are trying to win their 2nd World Series in the last 3 years. When Houston traded for Justin Verlander at the deadline in 2017 it led to a World Series title and now you could argue the Astros are the new favorite to win it all. The New York Mets didn’t trade Noah Syndergaard or Zach Wheeler and landed Marcus Stroman on July 28th. The Braves are leading the NL East and adding pitcher Shane Green should bolster their bullpen. The Giants are also winners because they are one of the hottest teams in baseball and didn’t trade Will Smith or Madison Bumgarner.

The New York Yankees have a great lineup and bullpen, but desperately need starting pitching. The Yankees lead our list of MLB Trade deadline losers because they did not trade for a starting pitcher. Can they still win the world series? The Dodgers had a very quiet deadline as well as they basically just stood pat. They could’ve used relief pitching help. The Texas Rangers also had a quiet deadline as they chose not to move veterans such as Hunter Pence, Mike Minor & Shawn Kelley.
