MLB Rumors Roundup: Posey's Return, Austin Jackson Out 6 Weeks, Cubs To Acquire Chapman?

The MLB Draft is in full swing, but there still plenty of noteworthy happening in the majors as teams try to put themselves in position for a playoff run as we hit the mid-point of the season. Here are all the latest MLB news and rumors you need to know:

Cubs, Yankees discussing Aroldis Chapman trade
Aroldis Chapman could be on the move once again. According to one report, the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees are discussing a trade for the star closer.

The addition of Chapman would likely result in Hector Rondon becoming a set-up man in Chicago. The Reds traded Chapman to the Yankees this offseason in exchange for prospects. Chapman has 11 saves this year with a 1.93 ERA.

Posey to return to lineup tonight
San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey will return to the lineup on Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers after missing the last three games with a thumb injury. However, SFGate.com's Henry Schulman reports that the team isn't sure where Posey will be in that lineup:

Return here for the actual lineup, when we’ll learn if Posey catches or plays first base for Brandon Belt, who, um, doesn’t hit Kershaw well,

I’ve learned that Posey had a cortisone shot in the thumb when the Giants were in St. Louis, which could explain why the club was adamant about not playing him for so long. It can take a few days for the effects of the shot and swelling to go down.

Posey's thumb injury was described as an "irritated nerve," and he said he has been dealing with the thumb issue for some time. He is batting .257 with eight homers, 26 RBIs and a .766 OPS this season.

Jackson out six weeks with torn meniscus
The Chicago White Sox announced that they have placed centerfielder Austin Jackson on the 15-day disabled list, but CSN Chicago's Dan Hayes reports Jackson will be out much longer than that after tearing his meniscus:

Chicago has recalled Jason Coats from Triple-A Charlotte to fill his place on the roster. Jackson is batting .254 with 12 doubles and 18 RBIs this season.
