MLB Power Rankings: Where Every Team Stands As Postseason Approaches

The MLB season is now in its final month and playoff races around the league are heating up. There are seven teams within three games of the final wild card spot in the AL, while three teams are in the same situation in the NL. Those races add intrigue to the final weeks, along with battles in the AL East and NL Central.

How does every team in the league stack up at this point of the season? Here's our latest MLB Power Rankings:

30) San Francisco Giants (54-87)
Just when the Giants started to not be terrible, they've lost 10 of 12. They've easily been the biggest disappointment of the season.

29) Philadelphia Phillies (53-85)
The rebuild is still ongoing in Philly, but things have been better over the last few weeks.

28) Chicago White Sox (54-83)
The entire second half of the season has been...not great...for Chicago. 16-34 to be exact.

27) Detroit Tigers (59-79)
Detroit finally punted and went into full rebuild mode when they traded Justin Verlander. It's going to be a rough few years for the Tigers.

26) New York Mets (59-79)
Want to know what it looks like when a team gives up at a certain point in the season? The Mets are 12-28 in their last 40 games.

25) Oakland A's (58-80)
An eight-game losing streak has highlighted all of the problems that have plagued Oakland all season.

24) Atlanta Braves (60-76)
Atlanta won't suck forever and their young prospects are showing signs of progress. They're just still a year or two away.

23) Cincinnati Reds (60-79)
That terrible stretch after the All-Star break really killed the Reds. They've been a roughly .500 team over the last month - but the season has been over for a while.

22) San Diego Padres (62-77)
We knew that San Diego was going to struggle this year, and that has been the case. Consistency has escaped them.

21) Toronto Blue Jays (64-75)
The Blue Jays proved they aren't the dumpster fire they were in the first few weeks of the season, but they've also proved they belong in the bottom 10 in these rankings.

20) Pittsburgh Pirates (67-72)
The Pirates have alternated a losing streak and winning streak of four games over the past week-plus. That consistency - or lack thereof - is why they're in this place.

19) Miami Marlins (67-71)
Miami's brief stint of contending for a wild card spot ended during this 1-8 stretch. Now they'll face questions about Giancarlo Stanton's future all offseason.

18) Seattle Mariners (69-70)
Going 3-7 over your last 10 games is not a recipe for success when you're in the wild card hunt. Still just three games out, Seattle needs to turn things around quickly.

17) Tampa Bay Rays (70-70)
Tampa is 10-5 over their last 15 games to put themselves back in the wild card conversation. They're only 2.5 games out right now.

16) Texas Rangers (69-68)
Texas' reliance on home runs has them on the outside looking in of the wild card race. But, it does give them the potential to get hot in the next few weeks.

15) Kansas City Royals (68-69)
Can the Royals score enough runs to get over the hump? They need a win streak to really get back into things now three games out of the wild card.

14) Minnesota Twins (71-67)
The Twins are just a half game out of the final wild card spot and have a favorable schedule remaining, with 13 of their final 24 games coming against the Blue Jays, Padres and Tigers.

13) St. Louis Cardinals (71-67)
St. Louis is barely clinging to their playoff hopes, sitting three games out of the final NL wild card spot. However, their three-game series against the Cubs are the only games they will play against a team with a winning record before Sept. 24.

12) Baltimore Orioles (71-68)
The Orioles have traded wins and losses over the last week following a seven-game win streak, keeping them from overtaking the final wild card spot in the AL. Finding consistency will be key.

11) Colorado Rockies (74-64)
Remember when the Rockies were a lock to make the playoffs? That is no longer the case as they went 10-17 during the last month. That won't get it done.

10) Milwaukee Brewers (72-67)
Can Milwaukee find a way to overtake the Cubs in the NL Central? This weekend's series between the two will go a long way in determining that. The Brewers will need to break out of their mini-slump though, as they've lost three of their last four games.

9) Los Angeles Angels (72-67)
The Angels are making a push for the postseason following the acquisitions of Justin Upton and Brandon Phillips, winning six of their last eight games.

8) Chicago Cubs (75-63)
Yes, the Cubs haven't been the dominant team we all expected them to be and have lost three in a row, but have been on fire in the second half of the season. The defending champs have shown they are still a force to be reckoned with.

7) Boston Red Sox (78-61)
Boston has struggled to find consistency all season and have lost four of their last six. That has kept them from maintaining a stranglehold on the AL East.

6) New York Yankees (74-64)
Why are the Yankees ahead of the Red Sox when they trail Boston in the division? They just took three of four from them and are finally trending back in the right direction. Plus, Aaron Judge seems to have broken out of his slump.

5) Washington Nationals (84-54)
There is a clear top five in the majors right now. Washington finds themselves at the bottom of that group simply because the teams ahead of them are on insane streaks.

4) Houston Astros (85-53)
Houston had started to plateau, but the additions of Justin Verlander (and Carlos Correa's return) have given them the boost (and six-game win streak) they needed.

3) Arizona Diamondbacks (81-58)
Incredible what a 12-game winning streak can do for a team, especially when most it comes against a pair of divisional rivals (Dodgers, Rockies).

2) Cleveland Indians (82-56)
What's better than a 12-game winning streak? A 13-game winning streak. Cleveland is showing why they're favored to get back to the World Series.

1) Los Angeles Dodgers (92-46)
Losing 10 of your last 11 games isn't good. But, since it comes after an incredible 50-10 stretch, we'll give the Dodgers a pass - for now.
