Jonathan Lucroy Trade Deadline Rumors: The Latest On The Brewers' Catcher

The Milwaukee Brewers have long had Jonathan Lucroy on the trade block and nearly moved him last week. The Cleveland Indians had a deal in place to land Lucroy, but the catcher shot that down with his no-trade clause. New York Mets and Texas Rangers are now the front runners to land him. Lucroy has two more controllable years left on his contract and is easily the best catcher on the market at this year's deadline. Below, we have all the latest rumors surrounding Lucroy, broken down by team and in alphabetical order.

We'll update this story with any new information.

Cleveland Indians
The Indians and Brewers had agreed to a trade, but Lucroy had Cleveland on his no-trade clause and didn't waive it. Now, the Indians have given up on trying to convince Lucroy to change his mind and the talks are dead.

The Indians did land Andrew Miller in a separate trade, but missing out on Lucroy could hurt them at catcher. Their offensive production from the position is poor.

New York Mets
The Mets have been trying to land Lucroy for several weeks now, and their trade for Jay Bruce (which is pending a medical issue with one of the minor leaguers involved) won't hinder their pursuit.

We also have an idea of what the Mets want in exchange for Lucroy. UPDATE: The Mets are out

The Mets might not be willing to part with Herrera, which would help explain why the deal is now on life support

Texas Rangers
The Rangers might very well be the favorites to land Lucroy.

The Rangers' addition of Carlos Beltran could help them land Lucroy.

However, the Rangers could also look for pitching help in a trade of Joey Gallo.
