Toronto and Miami Pull Off Blockbuster, Piss Off All of Florida In The Process

Holy shit.

Earlier tonight, the Toronto Blue Jays and Miami Marlins made a tsunami in the baseball world. Miami sent right handed pitcher Josh Johnson, left handed pitcher Mark Buehrle, shortstop Jose Reyes, outfielder Emilio Bonifacio, and catcher John Buck to Toronto in exchange for resident homophobic shortstop Yunel Escobar, infielder Adeiny Hechavarria, right handed pitcher Henderson Alvarez, left handed pitcher Justin Nicolino, outfielder Jake Marisnick, catcher Jeff Mathis, and right handed pitcher Anthony DeSclafani.

Miami is now having their annual firesale early. Last year was the first time since I can remember that the Marlins didn't blow up their roster in some way, shape, or form. This just proves how much of a cheap bastard owner Jeffrey Loria is.

As you would expect, Miami fans are thoroughly pissed off at this deal. Here's some of their reactions.

That last one really cracks me up.

It's really quite amicable that Loria presses for a new stadium and comes to an agreement with Miami-Dade county to rename the team the Miami Marlins, comes out with new uniforms, a new color scheme, and signs three of the biggest free agents on the market all in one winter, only to blow up the entire team the next winter by trading Heath Bell to Arizona, and dealing three of his remaining four good major league players in one fell swoop. No wonder Miami fans are so pissed off.

I fully expect to wake up to news of mass riots in Miami tomorrow morning. Buildings and cars will be burning, infernos everywhere, cars being tipped over, stores being looted, people getting trampled, Marlin Park on fire and collapsing, and Jeffrey Loria's house surrounded by an angry mob carrying pitchforks and torches.

Miami PD is gonna have a long day tomorrow.
