'We've got to be more productive': Mizzou wants more from its defensive tackles

COLUMBIA, Mo. — If the Missouri defense has a dimension into which it can grow during the 2025 season, it’s the interior.

The Tigers return most of their defensive tackles from last season, having lost one to expired eligibility and brought in one from the transfer portal. Their interior pass rushers have been fine lately but overshadowed — particularly this preseason — by the talent Mizzou has on the edge.

“Our job is not to block the offensive line,” D-tackles coach David Blackwell said. “We need to be able to be disruptive and knock people backwards and make plays and displace the ball.
