Tipsheet: Making a Mauk-ery of team discipline

Barry Odom's most puzzling move as the new Mizzou football coach was taking quarterback Maty Mauk back on the team.

You know Maty's story. Not only did he struggle mightily at the helm of the sputtering Tigers offense last season, but he quickly earned a team suspension for his colorful off-field activities.

Coach Gary Pinkel gave him another chance in midseason . . . and Mauk immediately earned another suspension, ending his season before it ever restarted. The relapse surprised exactly zero people in and around the program.

Mauk's actions were an extreme example of letting teammates down.
