Tigers need tailback depth behind Hansbrough

COLUMBIA, Mo. • Missouri earned a reputation as one of college football’s elite passing teams after switching to the no-huddle spread offense 10 years ago, but since 2005, MU running backs have produced more 1,000-yard rushing seasons (seven) than receivers have produced 1,000-yard receiving seasons (five).

Tony Temple eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark in 2006 and 2007, followed by Derrick Washington in 2008, Henry Josey in 2011 and 2013, Kendial Lawrence in 2012 and Russell Hansbrough in 2014. Marcus Murphy came 76 yards short of joining the list last season during what became the best rushing season by Mizzou’s No.
