Sigh of relief for Mizzou: QB Sam Horn only suffers forearm strain on pitching mound, should return soon

COLUMBIA, Mo. — It turns out that Missouri’s quarterback situation didn’t implode on a pitching mound Saturday in Miami.

Freshman quarterback Sam Horn, doubling as a relief pitcher for coach Steve Bieser’s Mizzou baseball team, had to leave Saturday’s game in the middle of the sixth inning against Florida International because of pain in his right arm — his throwing arm for both sports. After undergoing an MRI and consulting with multiple doctors, Horn’s injury isn’t as serious as initially feared. He suffered a forearm strain, Tigers football coach Eli Drinkwitz said Monday, but did not damage any ligaments.
