SEC honors Mizzou's Brothers

COLUMBIA, Mo. • No surprise here: The Southeastern Conference named Missouri linebacker Kentrell Brothers the league's defensive player of the week after his 16-tackle, two-interception performance Saturday at Arkansas State.

It was the second straight 16-tackle game for Brothers, who leads the Football Bowl Subdivision in tackles through two weeks of the season.

Brothers helped the Tigers preserve Saturday's 27-20 win in Jonesboro, Ark., with a pair of interceptions in the fourth quarter. On the first, he pried the ball loose from ASU receiver Dijon Paschall. On the second, he snatched a pass deflected by safety Anthony Sherrils.
