Sankey addresses state of SEC basketball

COLUMBIA, MO. • In 24 days, the NCAA Tournament bracket will be unveiled. In recent years Selection Sunday hasn’t exactly been a banner day for Southeastern Conference and league commissioner Greg Sankey. Since the league expanded to 14 teams for the 2012-13 season, the SEC has had the fewest NCAA Tournament teams (14) among the six major conferences — and one fewer than the Atlantic 10 Conference over that same time.

The latest bracket projections have the SEC sending four teams to this year’s NCAA Tournament, a subtle improvement from last year’s party of three but still well behind the league’s peers.
