Ready or not, young Mizzou pieces set for expanded roles

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri football fans won’t get to see Barry Odom coach his new team until the Arkansas Razorbacks visit Faurot Field in two months, but until then, for better or worse, they’ll see plenty of his recruiting contributions up and down the Tigers’ roster.

While Odom’s staff misfired on a handful of high-profile local prospects in the 2019 class, Mizzou will break in some less heralded additions this fall, starting when No. 2 Alabama visits for Saturday’s opener, notably on defense.

First, about those 2019 misfires. The Tigers have a healthy 1-2 punch at running back, but through the first couple weeks of the season, former Vianney running back Kyren Montgomery sure looks like the most glaring local whiff.
