In a statement from the school, Odom said he met with Mauk in December and reinstated him while making clear what expectations would be moving forward. “After gathering information and speaking with a number of individuals this week, it is clear Maty has failed to live up to those expectations by violating team rules in recent weeks,” Odom said in the statement.
Mauk had been suspended earlier this week after a video surfaced showing him purportedly using drugs. Odom said the video was “concerning” but also said the school believes the video “is from a long time ago.
