COLUMBIA, MO. • It was a 10-minute exhibition that didn’t include a lick of defense, but the fans who came out for Saturday night’s Mizzou Madness saw something new from the Tigers’ men’s basketball team. Sophomore Jontay Porter grabbed a defensive rebound, and soared up the court on the break then kept soaring up, up and away to the rim, where he flushed the kind of dunk rarely seen from the 6-11 forward last season.
He added a couple more dunks in a game that ended in a 32-32 tie, a spectacle worth something far more than the price of admission, which was free.
