COLUMBIA, MO. • DeMontie Cross wasn’t on Missouri’s football staff when the Tigers decided to redraw their out-of-state recruiting map and shift focus away from Texas and toward more traditional Southeastern Conference states.
Mizzou has since gone retro and made the Lone Star State a priority under new coach Barry Odom. Cross, Odom’s new defensive coordinator, is fully on board.
“You know, I wasn’t here to understand why (the change) happened,” Cross said earlier this month. “I know that historically Texas has been good to Missouri. You have (Texas) A&M there, so you have somewhat of an SEC connection there.
