Odom hires younger brother to coach Mizzou linebackers

COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri football coach Barry Odom kept his latest hire in the family.

Brian Odom, the head coach’s younger brother by almost 5 years, will take over as MU’s new outside linebackers coach, the team announced Friday. Brian Odom, 35, replaces cornerbacks coach Greg Brown, who left the staff last month for Auburn. With the move, Odom will reshuffle his staff, assigning safeties coach Ryan Walters to coach the entire secondary. Defensive coordinator DeMontie Cross will coach inside linebackers.

Brian Odom, a former administrative assistant and defensive graduate assistant at Mizzou in 2005, has spent the last two seasons as a defensive quality control coach at Washington State, where he’s helped coach linebackers under coordinator Alex Grinch, a former Mizzou assistant.
