Odom focused on fixing defense during bye week

COLUMBIA, MO. • Former Missouri coach Gary Pinkel usually gave his teams several days away from the practice field during bye weeks, but that hasn’t been the case under Barry Odom.

Coming off Saturday’s 42-7 loss at Louisiana State, Mizzou practiced Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, giving the Tigers a chance, Odom said, to clean up mistakes and analyze their strengths and weaknesses through five weeks. The Tigers have also gotten a head start on preparing for their next opponent. The season resumes Oct. 15 at Florida.

“We’ve had a chance to self-evaluate everything offensively and defensively that we’re doing,” Odom said during Wednesday’s SEC teleconference.
