Columbia, Mo., isn’t a big city. But it has a big football following. Just trying to find a room during a football weekend can leave you frustrated.
No need to be discouraged, says Megan McConachie of the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau, “Just call our office.”
The Columbia CVB (1-573-875-1231) keeps daily tabs on the 30 area hotels on busy football weekends. Those hotels report any cancellations or open rooms they have, so the CVB can help fill them.
Area bed-and-breakfasts often fill first, McConachie said, then once the Columbia hotels are full the CVB starts contacting other hotels in the region: Rocheport, Boonville, Kingdom City, Fulton.
