Two-time champions J'den Cox of Missouri and Illinois' Isaiah Martinez were among the 10 undefeated No. 1 seeds to advance into Friday night's semifinals at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships at Scottrade Center.
Cox (26-0) cruised through Friday's quarterfinals with a 10-1 win over eighth-seeded Ryan Wolfe of Rider at 197 pounds. Cox, an Olympic bronze medalist in Rio, took fifth in 2015, the last time the event was in St. Louis.
At 165, Martinez (30-0) was similarly impressive in a 10-5 decision over No. 9 Chandler Rogers of Oklahoma State. Martinez, a junior who improved to 97-1, won his previous two titles at 157.
