Mizzou won't easily replace Brothers

COLUMBIA, MO. • DeMontie Cross’ first order of business when he became Missouri’s defensive coordinator should have been a call to the school’s compliance department, just to double check that Kentrell Brothers indeed used up his eligibility.

Last year, Brothers earned All-American honors when he led all Football Bowl Subdivision players with 152 tackles. He reached that number — eclipsed by only three players in Mizzou history — in only 12 games. It was more like 11 ½ considering he missed a chunk of MU’s second half at Kentucky on Sept. 26 after spraining his ankle.
