Mizzou wins to sweep season baseball series with Missouri State

COLUMBIA, MO. • Midweek games in college baseball are supposed to appetizers, the less meaningful matchups that lead to the more substantial conference showdowns over the weekend. But not when it comes to Missouri and Missouri State.

An intrastate series that’s been all Bears in recent years now has tilted the other direction.

In their second meeting in two weeks, Missouri blitzed Missouri State 8-2 Tuesday at Taylor Stadium, sweeping the season series in what could be a boon for the Tigers’ postseason profile.

With nine extra-base hits, including a season-high eight doubles, the Tigers (28-13) closed a 4-1 homestand in front of 2,231 fans.
