Mizzou tabs SEMO's Bieser as baseball coach

COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri has named Southeast Missouri State's Steve Bieser its new baseball coach.

Bieser has gone 138-97 in four seasons at SEMO and this year, the 48-year-old Perryville, Mo., native guided SEMO to its first NCAA regional appearance in 14 seasons.

He’s the first coach in the Ohio Valley Conference to capture three consecutive regular-season league titles. Bieser’s SEMO teams have four wins over power conference teams the last three years, including a 3-2 record against Mizzou and a 2015 series split with Arkansas.

Bieser replaces Tim Jamieson, who announced his resignation June 11 after 22 seasons as head coach at Mizzou.
