Mizzou close to a decision on its quarterback competition, Eli Drinkwitz says

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri football coach Eli Drinkwitz offered a suggestion for the headline for this story. Fresh out of the last practice of the Tigers’ fall camp and addressing reporters as one of the few power conference coaches not to have named a starting quarterback, his idea:

Fair. Could work. Probably would draw some clicks. But you saw what the Post-Dispatch went with instead: something new and newsworthy Drinkwitz said Tuesday about the Mizzou quarterback competition.

“We’ll have a decision and talk to both those guys here in the next 24 hours about what we’re going to do,” he said, “and make sure the team’s comfortable with the plan moving forward.
