Mizzou baseball keeps season alive, clinches spot in SEC tourney

Needing a win to extend its season, the Missouri baseball team used a six-run seventh inning to pull away from Tennessee in an 8-3 victory in the home finale at Taylor Stadium.

With the win, the Tigers (34-21, 12-18 Southeastern Conference) clinched the final spot in the SEC tournament bracket as the No. 12 seed. Mizzou opens play in Hoover, Ala., in the evening game Tuesday against No. 5 seed South Carolina (32-22, 17-13). The winner moves into double-elimination play and faces No. 4 seed Arkansas (37-7, 18-12) in the evening game Wednesday.

After a sluggish start for Mizzou’s lineup, Zach Hannah broke open a 2-2 tie in the seventh with a go-ahead solo home run, followed by Matt Berler’s two-run double.
