Frank Haith will never forget that last huddle. It was Feb. 4, 2012. His Missouri basketball team trailed Kansas by eight with a couple minutes left at Mizzou Arena. It was the final installment of the rivalry game in Columbia before the Tigers would bolt the Big 12 for the SEC.
“We were down and Marcus kept yelling at me, ‘Just get me the ball!,’” Haith recalled. “I was like, ‘Marcus, calm down. You’re going to be fine. You’re going to get the ball.’ But he was going crazy. ‘Teahan’s guarding me! He can’t guard me!’”
Marcus is Marcus Denmon, Haith’s senior guard who before that day had lost his jump shot somewhere back in December.
