Matter on Mizzou: Red-zone troubles plague Tigers

COLUMBIA, MO. • We can spend all day writing about what went wrong for Missouri on Saturday at South Carolina. From the botched kickoff, to the coverage breakdowns to the costly penalties all-around, it was one of the most mistake-filled days of the 30-game Barry Odom regime.

Thirty-five points should be enough to win most weeks. Well, maybe not with Missouri’s defense. If the Tigers scored 35 points in all their 16 losses under Odom, they’d have 21 wins under his watch the last three years. That said, it’s impossible to overlook the offense’s shortcomings on Saturday, mostly in the red zone, where the Tigers visited eight times and came away with only three touchdowns.
