OK, it was just a scrimmage, and the Missouri freshman quarterback was mostly playing against backup units, but the fifth-teamer’s first scrimmage more than lived up to the buildup that surrounded his recruitment. He was poised against the pass rush. He ran effortlessly in and out of the pocket and threw the most catchable ball on the team — at least on Saturday. Yes, he played against other freshmen and walk-ons for the bulk of his series, but he was also playing with freshmen and walk-ons on his units.
