A big change for all SEC games this year will be the presence of an independent certified athletic trainer assigned to monitor for head and neck trauma. The trainer will be screened with the same set of standards as league officials — they can’t work a game involving their alma mater, for example — and will watch the game from the instant replay booth in the press box and use the same headset technology as the replay crew.
