Missouri baseball entered the seventh inning of Sunday’s rubber match with No. 15 South Carolina at Taylor Stadium leading 4-1. A win would secure the series for Mizzou (21-27, 7-16 Southeastern Conference) and be crucial for the Tigers’ hopes of making it to the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama, but things quickly took a turn.

The Gamecocks (32-15, 13-11) plated three in the seventh, three in the eighth, and two more for good measure in the ninth. In contrast, Missouri managed all of four base runners and no runs in the final three frames. The strong finish from South Carolina gave it a 9-4 win and the series victory in the battle of Columbias.
