Hochman: ‘Mevis and Butthead.’ With SEC’s longest FG, Mizzou’s Harrison Mevis praised by legend

They say Sandy Koufax had “The left arm of God.” Well, Harrison Mevis has the right foot of Fuad.

With his 61-yard field goal, Mizzou’s Mevis surpassed the Southeastern Conference record set by Fuad Reveiz, the famed Tennessee and National Football League kicker, and two others in the 1980s.

Mevis’ kick shocked No. 15 Kansas State and shook off the cobwebs of an old SEC record. Reveiz (1982) is one of three SEC players to make a 60-yarder, along with Florida’s Chris Perkins (1984) and Georgia’s Kevin Butler (1984), who soon after won a Super Bowl with the legendary 1985 Chicago Bears.
