Hansbrough returns in limited role

LEXINGTON, Ky. • When the week began, Russell Hansbrough was unsure if he’d be able to play on his sprained right ankle, but the senior tailback was back in uniform Saturday night at Kentucky, albeit for a limited role in the running game.

“You can tell he’s not 100 percent, but he’s a guy who’s going to play,” quarterback Maty Mauk said after Mizzou’s 21-13 loss.

Hansbrough’s status for Saturday came down to what MU coach Gary Pinkel said was a game-time decision. Hansbrough sat out last week’s game against Connecticut, later saying there was no way he could have played against the Huskies and probably shouldn’t have played the week before at Arkansas State, where he ran the ball five times before sitting out most of the second half.
