South Carolina coach Frank Martin can appreciate the challenges Mizzou coach Kim Anderson faces daily.
Like Anderson, Martin stepped into a dire situation. He inherited a 10-21 team. After difficult 14-18, 14-20 and 17-16 campaigns — featuring turmoil and player turnover — Martin finally propelled the Gamecocks forward in year four.
“It’s one step at a time. Learning to win is not something that you just kind of wake up one day and it happens,” Martin said Monday morning during the SEC conference call with reporters. “It’s a group of guys that are committed to the whole thing and don’t run away from each other when you have a loss or a bad day.
